This site features the 100 episodes celebration of the landmark soap opera entitled Thabyegone Ywa - the first ever Burmese language drama radio program.This landmark health educational radio drama series is set in a small village in Bago Province in lower Burma. Thabyegone Ywa' uses drama to explore issues of poverty-related diseases, including HIV/AIDS.

The BBC World Service Trust is an independent charity that aims to alleviate poverty in developing countries through the innovative use of media. It aims to reduce poverty through the innovative use of the media in developing countries and countries in transition and to help build media expertise within those countries. The Trust has produced a series of ground-breaking and thought-provoking projects in many of the world's poorest countries, developing the capacity of local and national media, building civil society, providing training in media skills and developing health and educational campaigns.
